The web page about the Wagon Tour advises that the wagons operate "from March to October, weather permitting." So one of our party could hold them while the others toured the home. The museum at the start is easily navigable. There is a relatively short walk to the house itself that should be possible however there are steps up to the house and there are steep stairway to reach the upper floor that may be more difficult. I do not believe there is a lift in the house. So the upper floor of the house may be too much.
The guides will tell you about the room but you have zero opportunity to actually look into the room except during the talk from a distance. The talk is the same so you get a fast rehersed talk while moving to different stations. One of my sore subjects are tours of famous people that spend more time telling you about the furniture or things than tell you about the person. I especially felt bad for two 6 years old that had nothing tailored for them on the tour and left knowing little to nothing about Jackson. Tours such as these are why many people say they hate history. Getting to experience a little of what Andrew Jackson’s life was like 200 years ago by seeing where and how he actually lived.

Today, vistors will find The Hermitage restored to its appearance in 1837, when Jackson returned there after serving his second term as president. This National Historic Landmark features more than 30 historic buildings, a seasonal wagon tour, walking trails, beautiful gardens and grounds and much, much more. The Hermitage Mansion is considered to be the most accurately preserved early presidential home in the country. In recent years, new interpretive initiatives and programs have enhanced the experience of more than 230,000 annual visitors. The stage is 130’10” wide and 53’1” deep with a 57’4” x 36’0” proscenium opening. An orchestra shell walls are available for use if desired. With a maximum seating capacity of 2,472, including 47 pit seats, Andrew Jackson Hall is TPAC’s largest facility.

Now for the major disappointment, the mansion. Be prepared for fast talking and be herded through the house. They do tours every 15 minutes with 2 different interpreters in the house. This means a max of 30 minutes in the house before you are pushed out.
We were pleased with the interpreter-led tour of the mansion and we were satisfied doing our own thing walking the grounds and seeing the other buildings on the property. But, man, oh man, was I jealous of the people that were allowed to go out onto the veranda. Had I looked at the differences between packages a little bit more closely ahead of time, I might have been willing to pay the extra to walk out onto a 19th-century plantation veranda! Do be sure to purchase tickets ahead of time online. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods. His body lies next to that of his wife in the tomb at the southeast corner of The Hermitage garden.

Jackson built the central portion of the present Hermitage mansion between 1818 and 1819 on a site chosen by his wife. The square, two-story brick building followed a four-room, center-hall plan with parlor, dining, and two bedrooms on the first floor and four additional bedrooms on the second. The Hermitage was the plantation home of Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States, from 1804 until his death in 1845.
The museum and the house are the two main features of this site. The museum was good but was pretty much "books on a wall'. If one takes the time to read everything you will find much of interest. This was a nice place with historically relevant presentations on the war of 1812, the battle of New Orleans and enslaved people.
